In the Folds of Our Truths

Decoding Draupadi and the Purple Pencil Project came together to capture the layers, the challenges and the pleasures of being a woman in South Asia today, in women's own words.

The theme was women and their many lives. Do you change your clothes, or the way you speak, around family? Do you keep parts of your life, your sexuality, your habits, from the people closest to you? The anthology explores the guilt, fear and anxiety of living like a fugitive, sometimes in your own home, and the thrill, joy and freedom that come with it too.

Fiction, non-fiction and everything between, written by women. The result is In the Folds of Our Truths: Women and Their Many Lives, An Anthology.

“This book should be your essential 2024 gift of reading.” Rochelle Potkar
