A salted hash is a scrambled version of your IP address that can't be turned back into the address. We use it only to stop spam, for example to limit how many comments one connection can post in an hour.
3. Why we collect it
- Community applications: to check that you are who you say you are, add you to the community and keep in touch with you about it.
- Volunteer offers: to reply to you and plan the work together.
- Job opportunities: to check each one and share it with the women in Draupadi at Work.
- Comments: to show your comment under the post, keep the conversation readable and stop spam.
- The open letter: to count support, show the names and words people agreed to share, and stop spam and duplicates.
- Newsletter: to send you the newsletter you signed up for.
- Usage data: to see which pages are useful and fix what isn't.
We collect this with your consent, which you give when you send a form. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to us, and we will stop using the data from then on.
4. How long we keep it
- Community and volunteer applications: for as long as you are part of the community or working with us, and for one year after you leave or your application is declined. Then we delete them.
- Comments and open letter entries: for as long as they are on the site, unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any newsletter email.
- Usage data: for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.
7. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and who we have shared it with,
- correct, complete or update it,
- delete it,
- stop using it, by withdrawing your consent,
- let someone else act for you if you are unable to.
Write to ak@c4e.in from the email you used on the site, or tell us how else we can confirm it's you.
8. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or complaint about how we handle your data, write to Anshika Kushwaha, founder of Decoding Draupadi, at ak@c4e.in. If you aren't happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Keeping it safe
Your data sits with Google and Cloudflare, behind their security, and only the Decoding Draupadi team can open it. No system is perfectly safe. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
10. Changes to this policy
When we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top. Read it alongside our terms of use.
